Pineapple Express 2008

Pineapple Express is a 2008 American action stoner comedy film directed by David Gordon Green, written by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, and starring Rogen and James Franco alongside Gary Cole, Rosie Perez and Danny McBride. The plot centers on a process server (Rogen) and his marijuana dealer (Franco) as they are forced to flee from hitmen and a corrupt police officer (Perez) after witnessing them commit a murder. Producer Judd Apatow, who previously worked with Rogen and Goldberg on Knocked Up and Superbad (both 2007), assisted in developing the story. The film was released by Sony Pictures Releasing under its Columbia Pictures label on August 8, 2008, and grossed $102.4 million worldwide on a $26 million budget. It received generally positive reviews from critics and has since developed a cult following. Franco was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for his performance.
